Re Post - Zernell Guest Mix

I have re posted a mix that was shared by Zernell & originally posted on here back in February 2008. Since then Zernell has set up his excellent Grimy record label, every release on the label so far, has been top quality, he even featured one of my edits on one of the releases. He also has a clothing line & now regularly DJ's all over the globe. Check his clothing range here: Grimy Gear
The text from the original post is below:

"If you saw my last post, you will see I advised you all to check out the Bring The Heat site, where you will find some of the best underground Disco mixes available, as well as DJ battles & forums. Well Zernell, who is one of the guys who was involved in the last DJ battle on the site, which was a classic battle by the way, has kindly sent me a mix to post on my site. The mix is called " Uhm... Who Is Zernell?" If you don't know, now you know. Check out the mix for a slice of bangin Disco from one of Chicago's finest. If you like the mix you can send Zernell shouts or feedback through the Bring The Heat site as well as if you leave comments here.

There will be some more guest mixes to follow in the coming weeks, you lucky people!!!"

Re Post - DJ Boogienite Guest Mix

This is a re post of a mix originally hosted on here in 2007, when Boogienite came over to play at my Rarefunkshun party in Newcastle Upon Tyne and gave me a mix to post on here. Original text below is from a follow up mix from 2010, the mix posted below is the 2007 one, I'll post the follow up one when I find it:

"Here's the latest guest mix for you all to enjoy. This one is from DJ Boogienite who is a member of the Chicago based Chuck Brothers, a collective of DJ's and Producers. His sets feature rare, soulful, underground disco treats & exclusive never heard before edits. Boogienite cut his teeth as a DJ playing on the underground Chicago party scene playing alongside a wealth of DJ talent in the city. He has won the annual DJ competition on the Bring The Heat website for the last two years running, taking on competitors from all round the world in a competition where you can only play rare disco records. He is also a producer releasing records under the name Urban Legendz.

Send some feedback if you like the mix."

Re Post - Josh Dunn Guest Mix - I Can Feel It

I have decided to start this blog up again. To start with, I will be re posting all the guest mixes that I still have. To kick off I have shared this mix which was origially from 2008.

Original text:  "I am very pleased to present the latest guest mix for all that tune in to my site. I have really enjoyed previous guest mixes from both Elwood & Zernell, I hope you have too. The latest mix is from Brooklyn's Josh D, also known as Fox 50. Josh runs the excellent 100 Limousines site, which contains loads of quality mixes from both Josh & guests. You will see if you are a regular on my site, that I big up his site all the time, as it's one of my favourites on the net. If you have never been on his site you should check it out today. Anyway sincere thanks to Josh for spending the time to do the mix & also to send in scans of all the labels of the records that he used in his mix. He makes it easy for me to post his shit. As well as running his site you will find Josh is also a top quality DJ who plays all killers with no fillers. Anyway check out his mix & don't be afraid to send him shouts or feedback."

Natural Impulse-We're Gonna Make It Through

Release Date: Monday December 13th 2010

After a two year absence from the previous release from Natural Impulse “She Went Away” they eventually return with two previously unissued tracks.

The A-side is a great uptempo 70’s dancer “We’re Gonna Make It Through”. While the b-side features the more funk orientated “Make It Or Break It” which is an edited version of the original six minute long studio take.

The story behind the discovery of these two tracks is:

Jesus (Jess) Gonzales the bass guitarist with Natural Impulse while sorting out some items to donate to a local charity came across an old cassette player. He discovered that it still contained a cassette which contained three forgotten unissued tracks that had been laid down during the 70’s only to have lain gathering dust for the last 32 years. Jess contacted Rick Ramos who forwarded a soundbite of each of the tracks to Soul Junction Records who have pressed them up & put them out on December 13th.

There is a clip below of them performing the track live.

This time we’ll be starting right after Maximo Park perform a live score for the silent classic The Man Who Laughs by Paul Leni, as the official after party for the Northern Lights Film Festival, and going on till 4am, so be sure to stick around for a wind down. Or, if you don’t fancy the film you can just come to the party
